    • An apparatus and method for controlling a suspension is provided to control a damping force of a damper based on a signal received from a vehicle speed sensor instead of using an accelerator sensor. An apparatus comprises damping force variable type dampers installed on the vehicle wheels, respectively, and a suspension control unit(600) to determine a road surface state based on vehicle speed signals received from other control devices. The suspension control unit includes a high-frequency filter(610) to filter the low-frequency zone in the vehicle speed signal, a G-level comparator(620) to compare the filtered signal with a G-lever critical value, a frequency counter(630), and a decision processing portion(640) to determine the road surface state based on the calculated frequency of the road surface by the frequency counter.

    • PURPOSE: A device and method of warning of danger in cornering on a downhill road is provided to warn a driver of danger, if proper control is not performed in comparison with the traveling state of a vehicle, in cornering. CONSTITUTION: A device of warning of danger in cornering on a downhill road includes a vehicle speed sensor(1) to detect the running speed; a wheel angle sensor(2) to detect the angle of wheels; a steering angle sensor(3) to detect the steering angle; a first gradient detection unit(4) to detect longitudinal gradient of the vehicle; a second gradient detection unit(5) to detect crosswise gradient of the vehicle; a deciding unit(6) to decide whether cornering is performed in a safe state on a downhill road from the values detected from the speed sensor, the wheel angle sensor, and the first and second gradient detection unit; and a warning unit(7) to warn a driver of danger if a warning signal is applied from the deciding unit. Accordingly, proper steering angle is obtained and thus, an accident is prevented.
