    • An internal, mechanical wet clutch for agricultural equipment is disclosed in which the clutch mechanism is enclosed within a lubricant case filled with oil. The enclosed clutch mechanism is attached to a gearbox for disposition in the driveline of agricultural machinery. The clutch enclosure inhibits tampering with the torque settings of the mechanism and includes an où bath that functions to lubricate the componente of the clutch while at the saure time providing a fluid braking that inhibits freewheeling. The enclosures for the gearbox mechanism and clutch mechanism may be completely separate enclosures fastened together, a single enclosure with separate sealed compartments for the gearbox mechanism and the clutch mechanism or a s ingle enclosure with a single compartment enclosing both mechanisms. In one embodiment, the gcarbox is a right angle gearbox and is integrally formed with the clutch mechanism.

    • A swivel gearbox system having multiple drivetrain outputs is disclosed. The system comprises a swivel gearbox and an angled divider gearbox where the power input and divided power output shafts are not in the same plane. The swivel gearbox is a right angle gearbox to permit power input to the divider through a 360-degree range. The output shaft of the swivel gearbox functions as the input shaft of the angled, divider gearbox. The input shaft for the swivel gearbox and the multiple divided output shafts for the divider gearbox are positioned relative to one another in parallel, offset planes, shared shaft between the swivel gearbox and the angled, divider gearbox is preferably positioned in a plane perpendicular to the other input and output shafts. In another embodiment, an angled divider gearbox is provided. In a preferred embodiment, the power input shaft is positioned to have an angle perpendicular to the multiple divided power output shafts, thereby dampening power fluctuation effects along the drivetrain between the PTO of a tractor and the driven implements of the agricultural equipment.

    • An apparatus and method is disclosed for controlling engagement of a power take-off (PTO) shaft (33) on a vehicle. The apparatus includes a clutch (18) including an input shaft (19) coupled to a power source (14) and an output shaft (32) coupled to the PTO shaft (33). The apparatus also includes an input sensor (56) for sensing a quantity related to the angular velocity of the input shaft (19), an output shaft speed sensor (56) for sensing angular velocity of the output shaft, and a clutch controller (20) for adjusting pressure of hydraulic fluid applied to the clutch (18) in response to control signals. Torque transmitted between the input shaft (19) and output shafts (32) is responsive to the control signals. The apparatus also includes a control circuit coupled to the speed sensors (56) and the clutch controller (20). The control circuit is configured to receive signals from the speed sensors (56) and to provide the control signals in response thereto. During engagement of the PTO shaft (33), the control circuit continuously determines an actual acceleration of the PTO shaft (33) based upon the output shaft velocity, and generates the control signals using a desired acceleration and the actual acceleration.
