Further, an amount of a Mg alloy in the molten metal of an Al alloy and the Mg alloy which are penetrated into porous spaces in the temporary molded body by soaking the temporary molded body is set up to be a range of 60-90 wt.%.

    • PURPOSE:To provide superior characteristics of high-temperature strength of a piston, a whole part of which is made of sintered ceramics by manufacturing the piston head part and the skirt part of said piston by use of press sintering method and atmospheric-pressure sintering method, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The piston head part of a piston is formed by pressing and sintering ceramics while the skirt part thereof is formed by sintering ceramics at atmospheric pressure. For manufacturing the piston, the piston heat part made of sintered ceramics which is manufactured by use of the press sintering method is first mounted on the upper face of the skirt part that is a sintered ceramics body. Both the parts are then joined by heating and pressing. Another manufacturing method of the piston head part is such that ceramics powder is built up on the upper face of the skirt part which is manufactured by sintering at atmospheric pressure, and the ceramics powder is then pressed and sintered.
