    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize high EGR rate without causing great deterioration of fuel economy. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a low pressure loop 14 drawing part of exhaust gas 9 out from an exhaust passage in a downstream of a turbine 2b and re-circulating the same to an intake pipe 5 in an upstream of a compressor 2a, and a high pressure loop 15 drawing part of exhaust gas 9 out from an exhaust manifold 10 and re-circulating the same to a part in a neighborhood of an inlet of an intake manifold 10, EGR valves 19, 21 provided in the low pressure loop 14 and the high pressure loop 15 and adjusting recirculation quantity of exhaust gas 9, and a control device 23 controlling each EGR valves 19, 21 performing base exhaust gas recirculation at EGR rate which is in a level not generating black smoke at a time of acceleration by the low pressure loop 14 and performing additional exhaust gas recirculation to compensate insufficient EGR rate part by the high pressure loop and coping with avoidance of black smoke at a time of acceleration mainly by immediately reducing recirculation quantity of exhaust gas 9 in the high pressure loop 15 side.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology for suppressing excessive rise of temperature of a filter during filter reproduction control in an exhaust emission control system of an internal combustion engine provided with a filter provided in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine to catch PM in exhaust gas. SOLUTION: When amount of suction air in the internal combustion engine is reduced to such an extent that excessive rise of temperature of the filter may occur during filter reproduction control, oxygen concentration in ambient atmosphere of the filter is reduced to target oxygen concentration. When amount of suction air when reducing is larger than some extent, oxygen concentration in the ambient atmosphere of the filter is mainly reduced by supplying reducing agent to catalyst provided on the upstream side more than the filter or carried by the filter (S106). On the other hand, when amount of suction air when reducing is below some extent, oxygen concentration in the ambient atmosphere of the filter is mainly reduced by restricting exhaust gas by an exhaust throttle valve (S104).     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise when an exhaust throttle valve is returned to full open after closing the exhaust throttle valve 9 and oxidizing and removing particulate matter accumulating on a diesel particulate filter 81 and regenerating the same in a diesel engine having the exhaust throttle valve 9 installed. SOLUTION: An exhaust system of a diesel engine is equipped with the diesel particulate filter 81 and a catalyst 82 in an upstream and the exhaust throttle valve 9 is arranged in a downstream thereof. If a diesel engine is operated under a condition that opening of the exhaust throttle valve 9 is small and the diesel particulate filter 81 is regenerated, opening of the exhaust throttle valve 9 is returned to a full open position after the diesel engine is operated at dropped rotation speed. Pressure of the exhaust system is reduced by dropping rotation speed of the engine. Consequently, noise generated accompanying release of the exhaust throttle valve 9 is greatly reduced.
