    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve practical use of a suspension system for a vehicle constituted by including an electromagnetic shock absorber to generate force against relative motion of a sprung part and an unsprung part. SOLUTION: Vibration of the sprung part is restrained by making a non-energized state not to flow an electric current to an electromagnetic motor by opening between electrifying terminals of each phase of the electromagnetic motor which the shock absorber has when the sprung absolute working direction which is a direction where the sprung part absolutely works in the vertical direction and the sprung working direction which is a direction where the sprung part works against the unsprung part are opposite to each other and making a specific energized state to flow the electric current to the electromagnetic motor by conducting between the energizing terminals of each phase to each other when the sprung absolute working direction and the sprung relative working direction are the same direction. It is possible to effectively damp vibration of the sprung part by simple control only to change a state to open the energizing terminals of each phase and the state to conduct between them over to each other without requiring electric power supply from an electric power source.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suspension device capable of obtaining damping force to meet the laden weight of a vehicle.
      SOLUTION: The suspension device comprises an air spring 3 between a sprung mass corresponding member 1 and an unsprung mass corresponding member 2, an electromagnetic shock absorber 4 which connects the sprung mass corresponding member 1 to the unsprung mass corresponding member 2 and increases/decreases the damping force according to the resistance, a sensor 5 for detecting the internal pressure of the air spring 3, and a controller 8 which calculates the laden weight of a vehicle based on information from the sensor 5 and adjusts the resistance so that the corresponding damping force can be provided by the electromagnetic shock absorber 4. The damping force of the electromagnetic shock absorber 4 is adjusted in a continuously variable manner according to the laden weight.
