    • The present invention relates to a device for improving the performance and operation of an internal combustion engine by mechanically or aerodynamically aspirating burnt gases from the exhaust pipe. The engine comprises, according to the invention, any of the following devices: "aspirator" (Y) with a (hot) single runner (2); - "compressor-aspirator" (11) comprising a (hot) runner (2A) associated with a (cold) runner (1); "turbocompressor-aspirator" (11A) with a (hot) runner (2C) associated with a (hot) second turbine (2B) and with a (cold) third runner (1A); - an aerodynamic device with two exhaust ducts (24) and (25) with jet pump effect aspiration. According to the invention, the (hot) runners (2), (2A) and (2C) and the exhaust duct (24) generate a depression in the exhaust pipe (4), (4A), (4C) and (25) downstream of the exhaust valves (8), (8B), (16) and (23B). The burnt gases (B), (B1), (BB) and (B5) are discharged freely from the cylinders (5), (5A), (5B) and (5E), with no resistance from back pressure. By altering the setting and the timing of the timing system, the intake and exhaust strokes of the piston (6A) of the four-stroke engine (M1) can be eliminated. The engine (M1) can be converted into a two-stroke engine.
