A first distal end portion of the first pumping plunger part abuts a first distal end portion of the second pumping plunger part, and a second distal end portion of the first pumping plunger part in part defines a pumping chamber. 摘要： A fuel injector is provided with a lower nozzle body which is cooled with a small amount of metered fuel. In one embodiment, a blind passage is formed to extend from the upper portion to the lower end of the injector nozzle valve element. A transverse passage is formed in the nozzle valve element connecting the blind passage and the nozzle bore. Rail pressure causes a metered amount of fuel to flow through the nozzle bore, the transverse passage and upwardly along the blind passage to the drain passage. Inward cooling occurs by providing more surface area over which the fuel flows. In another embodiment, a sleeve is formed to fit over an existing nozzle to form a passage surrounding the injector tip. An orifice is located in the nozzle housing to connect the nozzle cavity with the annular passage thereby providing a small amount of fuel to drain.

摘要： A hydraulically actuated dual fuel injector (1) separately injects a gaseous fuel and a liquid fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. The injector comprises: (a) an injector body; (b) a hydraulic fluid inlet port (7) for a pressurized hydraulic fluid, said hydraulic fluid being of sufficient pressure to maintain sealing and to prevent leakage of the gaseous fuel into the hydraulic fluid; (c) a first liquid fuel inlet port (6) for a first liquid fuel; (d) a first injection valve (16) disposed within the injector body fluidly connected to the first fuel inlet port (6) for controlling injection of the first liquid fuel through a first fuel ejection port (5); (e) a second inlet port (23) for a second gaseous fuel; (f) a second injection valve (17) fluidly connected to the second inlet port (23) for controlling injection of the second gaseous fuel through a second fuel ejection port (4); (g) a first two-way control (3) valve which controls the flow of the hydraulic fluid to actuate the first injection valve (16); (h) a second control valve (2) which controls the flow of the hydraulic fluid to actuate the second injection valve (17); (i) a metering device (15) within the injector body for metering the amount of first liquid fuel injected by the first injection valve (16); and (j) a fluid seal cavity (22) in the injector body which prevents leakage of the second gaseous fuel.

摘要： A unitized fuel supply assembly is disclosed including an in-line reciprocating cam driven pump (14) for supplying fuel to an accumulator (12) from which fuel is directed to a plurality of engine cylinders by means of a distributor (16) mounted on the unitized assembly. Dual pump control valves (20) provide fail safe electronic control over the effective pump displacement. One or more injection control valves mounted on the distributor are provided to control injection timing and quantity. The accumulator (12) contains a labyrinth of interconnected chambers (36) which are shaped and positioned to produce a minimum overall package size while providing for easy manufacture.

A cylinder head includes an injector mounting bore to receive the injector, and a lower sealing portion. The engine also includes an engine coolant passage formed in the cylinder head to receive engine coolant to remove heat from the cylinder head. The engine coolant passage opens into, and is fluidly connected to, the mounting bore to cause coolant in the coolant passage to contact the annular outer surface of the nozzle assembly. A lower seal is positioned between the lower sealing portion and the nozzle assembly to form a fluid seal.

Importantly, the injector includes a preload chamber positioned along an injection control valve member for receiving high pressure fuel. The high pressure fuel acts on the injection control valve member to apply a preload force to supply a preload force to the stack of piezoelectric elements thereby ensuring more accurate control over fuel injection timing and metering.
