摘要： A fuel injector is provided with a lower nozzle body which is cooled with a small amount of metered fuel. In one embodiment, a blind passage is formed to extend from the upper portion to the lower end of the injector nozzle valve element. A transverse passage is formed in the nozzle valve element connecting the blind passage and the nozzle bore. Rail pressure causes a metered amount of fuel to flow through the nozzle bore, the transverse passage and upwardly along the blind passage to the drain passage. Inward cooling occurs by providing more surface area over which the fuel flows. In another embodiment, a sleeve is formed to fit over an existing nozzle to form a passage surrounding the injector tip. An orifice is located in the nozzle housing to connect the nozzle cavity with the annular passage thereby providing a small amount of fuel to drain.

摘要： An piezoelectric actuated injector is provided which includes a nozzle valve element, a control volume, and an injection control valve including a control valve member for controlling fuel flow from the control volume so as to control nozzle valve movement. Importantly, the injector includes a preload chamber positioned along an injection control valve member for receiving high pressure fuel. The high pressure fuel acts on the injection control valve member to apply a preload force to supply a preload force to the stack of piezoelectric elements thereby ensuring more accurate control over fuel injection timing and metering.

摘要： The operation of a fuel injector for an internal combustion engine is controlled, wherein the fuel injector has an on time comprising a pull-in time during which injector current increases to a pull-in current followed by a hold time during which the injector current is limited to a hold current that is less than the pull-in current. A control circuit receives a pressure signal from a pressure sensor that corresponds to a pressure of fuel supplied to the fuel injector for injection into the engine, correlates the pressure signal with fuel pressure, and decreases the pull-in time with increasing fuel pressure.

The assembly comprises a stator; an armature housing; and an adjustable spacer coupled between the stator and the armature housing, wherein the spacer yields at a controlled rate when an axial load is applied thereto. The adjustable spacer is positioned between the stator and the armature housing such that when an axial load is applied, the adjustable spacer compresses at a controlled rate, thereby allowing adjustment of the valve stroke. A system and method in accordance with the present invention is applicable to any valve which includes a housing containing a seat, an armature, a stator, and a mechanism that is capable of applying a load to the housing.

摘要： A fuel pump is disclosed wherein a substantially cylindrical plunger bore is provided with an annular drain groove fluidically coupled to a drain duct. A pump plunger is driven by a drive system located in a separate mechanical compartment that holds a reservoir of lubricating oil. An annular seal is provided adjacent the drain groove substantially at the end of the bore and retained in position by a seal support. Exemplary embodiments provide the drain groove and seal as being positioned immediately adjacent one another so that the seal forms a lower wall of the drain groove.

摘要： High-pressure fuel systems use very precise components with tight clearance tolerances that place high demands on fuel filtration efficiency. High efficiency next-generation nanofiber filter media can meet these demands and have ample "large particle" efficiency, but it has been found that, in some cases or under certain conditions, fuel filter life is insufficient due to clogging of the filter with very small particles, which may be carbon particles that are typically less than three microns in size. The disclosure provides improvements to a fuel injector that decreases the shear in a fuel injector, reducing the creation of small particles.
