    • The present invention concerns an emergency vessel or lifeboats suitable for ships and other offshore facilities. The vessel comprises a closed hull, a propulsion assembly comprising a propulsion unit such as a propeller, an electric motor providing user controlled force to the propulsion assembly, a battery bank electrically connected to the electric motor and a generator electrically connected to the battery bank for charging of the battery bank. The inventive emergency vessel further comprises a damping system having a double-layered battery case which at least partly, and preferably fully, encloses the battery bank. The battery case comprises an inner layer stationary secured to the battery bank and an outer layer stationary secured to the hull and at least one damping means arranged between the battery bank and the outer layer, for example between the battery bank and the inner layer, or between the inner layer and the outer layer, or a combination of both.

    • A vessel having an air cushion cavity defined in its bottom. The air cavity is sub-divided into a plurality of longitudinally extending individual air cavity channels which are open to the sea at the bottom and maintained airtight at any height above the bottom by the top of the cavity. Each air cavity channel is fitted with its own air inlet and vent allowing the air pressure to be monitored by a central control unit and individually adjusted if necessary to maintain an adequate depth of air below the cavity top.
