    • A vessel (10) designed to operate efficiently as both a catamaran and air cushion vessel can travel at low speed (e.g. Froude number (Fn) = 0-0.3) in a catamaran or displacement mode and at high speed (e.g. Froude numbers (Fn) = 0.3 or more) in an air cushion or dynamically supported mode. The vessel (10) includes molded catamaran hulls (11, 12) with parabolic waterlines, a flexible, air cushion seal system (16, 17), surface piercing propellers (20) and a propulsion system (e.g. combined diesel and gas turbine). There are preferably auxiliary gas turbines for generating lift air pressure. Forward mounted independently stabilizing foils (30), can optionally facilitate ride stabilization and load compensation at high and low speeds. The foils also generate transverse roll forces to improve high speed maneuvering.

    • A transportation system is disclosed that includes a monorail (100) along a column-supported rail (113) and a movable weight system (510) that repositions and/or accelerates a movable weight (550) along its rail to counterbalance a moment associated with weight and/or a centrifugal force of monorail relative to the column (222). Also disclosed is a linear induction motor (400, LIM) system that enables LIM to tilt and thereby remain close to rail, which mitigates potential thrust losses and/or air losses. Further disclosed is an air bearing system (300) where the air bearing (325) has compliance and resilience that minimizes air loss between the rail and the bearing. Additionally disclosed is a rotatable wedge system (1000) that essentially expands and/or contracts automatically to maintain an adjacency between two rail portions. Further still, disclosed are embodiments where LIM's attachment to assembly provides assistance to lessen air pressure needed for air bearing.

    • The invention relates to shipbuilding and can be used for developing air-cushion crafts. The aim of said invention is to create a highly efficient air-cushioned craft by reducing airflow power losses and resistance during navigation at rough water or motion on an irregular hard surface. The inventive air-cushioned craft comprises a hull, a delivery device provided with a steering device and air ducts for supplying air to the air cushion, a protection enclosure for the air cushion region provided with fore and stern elements and side skegs. The air ducts are formed by means of flexible sheets arranged along the shipboards and the skegs. The top edges of the sheets are hermetically fixed to the ship hull, the lower edges being fixed to the skegs with the aid of flexible couplings.
