摘要： An anti-fouling light output system is for mounting over a surface to be protected from biofouling. A lighting panel (20) has a first surface (51) and an opposite second surface (52), wherein a waveguide is formed between the first and second surfaces. A UV light source (40) delivers light into the waveguide, and it is, or is converted into, antifouling light. The first surface of the panel is for application to the surface to be protected and the second surface is for facing outwardly from the surface to be protected. This second surface comprises a ribbed area (80, 90, 92) having ribs (82) for reducing drag, which ribs are transparent to the anti-fouling light. This arrangement thus combines two measures for drag reduction; a ribbed surface and delivery of anti-biofouling light through those ribs to prevent the formation of biofouling at the ribs.

摘要： Anti-fouling coatings and associated systems and methods are generally described. In some aspects, a system comprises a substrate, a coating disposed on at least a portion of the substrate, and a fluid comprising one or more foulants, where the coating is configured to be in physical contact with the fluid during use. According to some embodiments, a full-spectral Hamaker constant associated with the coating and the fluid is relatively low (e.g., about 20 zj or less, about 10 zj or less), and the van der Waals (vdW) force between the coating and the one or more foulants is, therefore, correspondingly low. Under some conditions (e.g., high temperature and/or high pressure conditions), intermolecular interactions between the coating and the one or more foulants may he dominated by the vdW force, and a relatively low vdW force may reduce the likelihood of the one or more foulants adhering to and/or otherwise being deposited on the coating.

Consequently, the area that is reached by the anti-biofouling light during operation of the arrangement (1) can be adjusted to particular requirements.

摘要： A system enhances corrosion protection of a protected surface (30) of a marine structure (110) in contact with a liquid containing biofouling organisms. The protected surface is electrically conductive and is protected against corrosion by impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP). The system has a light emitting arrangement (100) comprising a light source (20) for emitting anti- fouling light (22). The light emitting arrangement is arranged to emit the anti- fouling light from the light source towards a zone of the protected surface (30). Effectively biofouling is prevented and the operation of the ICCP is enhanced when the marine structure is partly immersed in the fouling liquid.
