摘要： A driving shield having a shield shell and a transverse wall for defining a work chamber, and a removal arm pivotally journalled on the transverse wall. The removal arm has a removal tool for mining or removing a face wall which also delimits the work chamber. A pressure medium supply is provided for attaining a support pressure in the work chamber. Material worked away from the face wall is removed by a discharge conduit arranged essentially along the bottom of the shield shell. The work or material-removing arm is journalled on the transverse wall in the pneumatic pressure duct, and the pressure medium supply is embodied as a pneumatic conduit. A sealing medium application device is movably coupled with the work arm, and the delivery nozzle of the device is directed upon the immediate surroundings at the free end of the removal tool.

摘要： A tunnelling apparatus has an annular tunnelling element subdivided into a leading and a trailing chamber. The front end of the leading chamber is open to the material-removing face. A material-removing cutting device is lodged in an opening formed in the transverse wall to remove material from the working face. It can be axially withdrawn from the opening into and if necessary rearwardly beyond the trailing chamber, so as to expose the opening and permit access of an operator to the working face through the opening.

摘要： The cutterhead and cutter elements thereon undergo an orbiting radial shifting movement as the shield is advanced. Water is delivered to the cutterhead region forwardly of a water tight bulkhead for admixture with the material being excavated from the tunnel face. The resulting mixture is pumped away from the tunnel face through a removal pipe which extends rearwardly through the bulkhead. The bulkhead includes a fixed outer portion and a flexible diaphragm type seal which closes the space between the cutterhead and said fixed outer portion.

摘要： In a method for use in dry, rotary, crushing full-area drilling, use is made of suction air alone for removing cuttings produced during drillings. To carry out the method, two suction nozzles (13) are arranged on the underside of a cutterhead (1). These nozzles together have a substantially diametrical extent and the length of a radius on the cutterhead and are provided with suction intakes (14A) in the vicinity of the periphery of the cutterhead. The suction intakes (14A) are connectible a common suction channel (11) in the drill string (6) of the cutterhead. The suction channel (11) has substantially constant diameter.

摘要： A tunneling machine convertible between a "closed mode" and an "open mode" of operation, having a rotatable cutterhead with muck openings communicating with a pressurizable cutterhead chamber and a pressure maintenance system to stabilize the tunnel workface when operating in the "closed mode". In the "closed mode" low slurry flow is employed as a liquid pressure balance solely to support the unstable tunnel face. Low slurry flow is supplied through a pressure bulkhead sealing the cutterhead chamber and pressurized conveyor means through the bulkhead removes tunneled material from the cutterhead chamber. A pressure lock connected to the pressurized conveyor means transfers tunneled material to dewatering and reservoir/accumulator means operated at substantially atmospheric pressure. Slurry, with at least most of the solids removed, is recycled to the slurry inlet at a controlled low flow rate matching the rate of removal of tunneled material and slurry from the tunnel face so the otherwise unstable tunnel face is maintained stable. In the "open mode" of operation, for use in boring a self-stabilizing tunnel face, the pressure bulkhead is removed and a second conveyor, such as a belt conveyor, is disposed adjacent to the "closed mode" conveyor to withdraw cuttings from the cutterhead chamber.

摘要： An apparatus and method for measuring fluctuations in amount of soil in slurry or soil-containing fluid line. Each system of feeding the slurry typically to tunneling face and draining it therefrom in the slurry line is provided with gamma-ray densimeter and electromagnetic flow-meter to obtain respective amounts of soil only (dry-soil amounts) in the slurry flowing through each of said systems from respective outputs of these meters in each system, so that actually excavated amount through ground layer of a shielded excavator at the tunneling face can be measured by the difference between the respective dry-soil amounts. The excavator will be advanced depending on this measured amount.
