摘要： Apparatuses, systems, and methods are provided for cutting a trench in soil or earth by driving a cutter tube member through the soil or earth, injecting compressed fluid into the tube member to break up the soil and drive it through the tube member along the flow of compressed fluid, imparting dynamic vibrational forces to the tube member to assist the flow of soil therethrough, ejecting the soil from the tube member, guiding and releasing media and/or filler material into the trench, and backfilling the trench with the ejected soil.

This eliminates the combination of an intervening gear box and a watertight chamber to house the rotating shaft hydraulic motor of conventional dry underwater service practice. In a preferred embodiment, a compression seal is provided which is adapted to create a chamber within the seal thereby providing a first line of defense against the intrusion of water into the junction of the stationary shaft and the rotating case. By injecting underwater lubricating grease into this chamber, displacing all of the air therein, the sliding contact surfaces are lubricated and a second line of defense against the intrusion of water is provided.

The endless bucket lift is lowered from a ship and circulates between the ship and the collection vessel. The circulation of the buckets carries the mineral deposits, collected at the collection vessel, to the ship. The ship has an expansion apparatus having at least a pair of end-rollers on which an endless belt carrying a number of buckets are wound. The distance between the end rollers is adjustable so that the lowering distance of the collection vessel and the automotive collector can be adjusted according to the depth of the seabed.
