    • A drum-type mixer having a cylindrical-shaped drum mounted eccentrically on a drive shaft that rotates the drum. A second shaft, concentric with the drive shaft, extends inside of the drum and is operatively connected to mixing devices, such as scrapers, paddles, etc. to aid in the mixing process. The mixing devices can be rotated the same direction or in the opposite direction as the rotational direction of the drum itself, and the drum and mixing devices can be driven at the same or different speeds. Also, the shaft that extends to the interior of the drum can be used to inject fluids, such as steam, into the product mix and can also be used to exhaust fluids from the interior of the drum.

    • An enrober (100) for applying a topical coating to an exterior surface of multiple pieces of a food base is disclosed having a marked decrease in the amount of build-up upon the internal surface of the drum (102) allowing for reductions in cleaning service requirements and its concomitant losses in production capacity and for reductions in undesirable product agglomerates. In the preferred form, the drum (102) is formed by a thin wall in a generally cylindrical shape and formed of hydrophobic material in the form of high-density polyethylene having low-stick characteristics with the topically coated food base. Moisture, in addition to any present in the topical coating, is added to the drum (102) to prevent or practically eliminate build-up on the drum (102). The topical coating in the form of a slurry can be co-sprayed with steam in an atomized intermixed spray onto the food base by a nozzle (10, 80). Also, a renewable barrier between the continuous inner surface of the drum (102) and the food base can be formed by spraying water or steam by nozzles (116) as a thin film of water onto the inner surface of the drum (102) above the food base.

    • A cooking pot enclosing a rotatable spherical chamber includes a pot body. A cover is provided on an open top of the pot body to define an enclosed space. A removable, spherical chamber assembly is rotatably suspended within the pot body by a pair of opposite shafts. One shaft end is driven by a mating gear connected to a gear train and motor located external to the pot body. Food is placed in the spherical chamber assembly, which is then placed in the pot body. The pot body is filled with several inches of water, and placed on a stove or other heating element. The spherical chamber assembly is suspended above the boiling water, and is rotated by the motor and gear train, which causes the food to tumble and therefore cook evenly and quickly. Baffles affixed to the interior side walls of the spherical chamber assembly further enhance the mixing action.

A crest of the deflector members being angularly positioned with respect to a rotational axis of the blending container for cross blending the flowable material. The blending container is positioned and transported to a lifting and rotating apparatus on a dolly. The lifting apparatus includes a means for securing the blending container to the lifting apparatus by pivoting its lift forks interior of a pair of support members of the blending container. The flowable material is discharged after blending by positioning and opening a port of a discharge end of the blending container over an apparatus to be charged with the blended material.
