    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of accurately estimating a cetane value of fuel in use while detecting actual ignition timing of fuel from a cylinder pressure detected by a cylinder pressure sensor and appropriately controlling exhaust recirculation quantity in accordance with the detected actual ignition timing. SOLUTION: A target EGR quantity GEGR is calculated by utilizing a GEGRM1 map set with fuel of a first cetane value CET1 as a reference or a GEGRM2 map set with fuel of a second cetane value CET2 as a reference. A ignition delay correction quantity CADM is calculated in accordance with a delay angle DCAM of the actual ignition timing CAFM to the target ignition timing CAFMM. A cetane number is estimated by employing a CETA table or CETB table in response to the ignition delay correction quantity CADM. The switching of a cetane value conversion table in response to the estimated cetane value and switching of a map for target EGR quantity calculation are executed by switch parts 73, 53.
