    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of a tire while suppressing an increase in manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a pneumatic tire including a carcass 6 extending from a tread portion 2 to bead portions 4 on both sides via a sidewall portion 3 and including a carcass ply 6A formed by coating an array 12 of carcass cords 11 with a topping rubber 13 is provided. The manufacturing method includes a raw tire forming step of forming an unvulcanized raw tire 1L using an annular core 16 and a vulcanizing step of vulcanizing the unvulcanized raw tire 1L together with the annular core 16. The raw tire forming step includes a step of forming a raw carcass ply 6L by coating the carcass cords 11 formed of polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylene naphthalate with an unvulcanized raw topping rubber 13L. Each of the carcass cords 11 has a dry heat shrinkage at 180° C of 1 to 3% before subjected to the vulcanizing step, and the unvulcanized raw topping rubber 13L has a Mooney viscosity of 35-70 (ML, 130°C).

SOLUTION: The pneumatic tire includes at least one carcass 2 toroidally extending over between bead cores 1 embedded in a pair of bead parts 11, respectively. As reinforcing cords of the carcass 2, polyester fiber cords are used which have a total decitex number of 4,300-5,100 dtex after stranded, and have a cord strength of 6.5-7.2 cN/dtex and a cord elongation of 3.5-4.0% under a stress load of 2cN/dtex after subjected to dipping treatment.
