    • An axial motor (100) driven by opposed pistons/cylinder (101a-105b, 111a-115b) pairs arranged in a circular array about a central axis of the motor (100). The opposed pistons (101a, 101b; 102a, 102b; 103a, 103b; 104a, 104b; 105a, 105b) in each pair are linked by a corresponding connecting rod (106-110), which transfers the thrust from the pistons (101a-105a) to an output shaft via a power transmission apparatus (300) and z crank (114) arrangement. Reciprocating couplings disposed in the transmission apparatus (300) connect the connecting rods (106-110) to the apparatus (300). During operation, the reciprocating couplings oscillate to retain the connecting rods (106-110) substantially aligned with the corresponding piston pair to reduce side thrust on the pistons.

    • The invention relates to a piston engine comprising a case (25) containing at least two cylinders (3, 4; 5, 6) with inlet openings and outlet openings, which can be opened and closed by means of controllable valves. Each piston (7, 8, 9, 10) can linearly move inside said cylinders (3, 4, 5, 6) in a reciprocating manner. The inventive piston engine also comprises at least one shaft (17), which is rotatably mounted in the case (25), and a transmission device, with which the linear reciprocating motion of the pistons (7, 8, 9, 10) can be converted into a rotational movement of the shaft (17) or the rotational movement of the shaft (17) can be converted into a linear reciprocating motion of the pistons (7, 8, 9, 10). The transmission device comprises a pivotal lever (13; 18) which can be pivoted around a centrally arranged pivot pin (14; 20) mounted in the case (25). A rotatable roller (15; 19) is placed on each of said pivotal levers (13; 18) at both end areas thereof. The rotational axes of the rollers are each perpendicular to the pivot pin (14; 20), and the rollers (15; 19) roll on a track (16) which is joined to the shaft (17) in a fixed manner while extending between both rollers (15; 19), and which is provided with elevations and recesses. Said elevations and recesses are matched to one another such that the rollers (15; 19) located opposite one another on the pivotal lever (13; 18) are in contact with the track, and such that a connecting rod (12), which is connected to the appropriate piston (7, 8, 9, 10), is additionally joined to both end areas of the pivotal lever (13; 18).

    • The invention relates to an axial-piston engine comprising a centrally located output shaft (1) and a plurality of piston-cylinder units (2) oriented parallel to the output shaft (1) and grouped symmetrically thereabout, a thrust yoke (5) mounted on said output shaft (1) so as to rotate therewith, said thrust yoke providing support to a tilted cam plate (4) mounted on bearings in a freely rotating manner on the perimeter of said thrust yoke (5), locking means (6, 7) for preventing the rotation of said tilted cam plate (4) with respect to the body of the engine and ball-jointed piston rods (9) connecting each piston (12) of the engine to said tilted cam plate (4) so as to transmit the sequential thrust of said pistons (12) to said tilted cam plate (4), thus effecting a rotational motion of said output shaft (1). According to the invention, the skirt of each piston (12) is provided with vanes (14) on which a force is exerted owing to an air vortex generated in the crankcase (3, 3') by the nutating movement of the tilted cam plate (4) every time the skirt of the piston (12) travels outward from the bore of the cylinder (2), thus exerting a certain degree of axial rotation of the piston (12).
