    • A vehicle-location recognition system includes an electronic recognition unit provided in a respective vehicle of an ordered set of vehicles which are introduced into an assembling process section, the electronic recognition unit storing an ID number of the respective vehicle therein. A sensor unit detects the electronic recognition unit as the vehicle passes by a location of the sensor unit along the assembling process section. A control unit stores the ID number in sequence order with the ID numbers of the vehicles of the ordered set of vehicles, and determines a location of a particular vehicle in the ordered set of vehicles based on the ordered sequence of stored ID numbers and information on the spacing intervals between vehicles in the assembling process section.

    • Various embodiments are directed to a method for fulfilling orders from an inventory comprising serialized products. For example, a computer system may receive an order and derive from the order a plurality of products, a unit quantity for each of the plurality of products, and a serial identifier referencing a first product unit of at least one of the plurality of products. At least one of the plurality of products may be a non-reserved product. Also, the computer system may determine a first bin selected from a plurality of non-reserved product bins that is associated with product units of the non-reserved product and generate a pick instruction specifying the first bin and the unit quantity of the non-reserved product specified by the order. The computer system may also instruct a robot to retrieve the first product unit from one of the plurality of robot accessible bins. The robot may be programmed to load product units to the plurality of robot-accessible bins and retrieve product units from the plurality of robot-accessible bins.

    • A closed loop location detection system for use in monitoring simultaneously the presence or absence of objects in at least two locations, comprises at least one detectable element per location and adapted to be associated with a respective object to be monitored, and at least one detecting device adapted to detect the detectable elements of the objects and so determine whether objects are present in, or absent form, all of the locations being monitored. Means are provided for causing an object to be fed to a location determined to be devoid of objects by the detecting device. Typically, the closed loop location detection system uses RFID technology, e.g. the detection device comprises at least one antenna and the detectable element comprising at least one RF tag. There may be provided one such antenna for each location to be monitored, whereby for a given location, a respective antenna detects the presence or absence of a respective tag thereby determining whether an object is present in this given location. Alternatively, the antenna can be adapted to monitor more than one location, wherein a position tag is associated with each location and means to deactivate the position tag are provided on each object, whereby when the object is fed to a given location, the means to deactivate that are provided on this given object, cause the position tag associated with the given location to stop being detected by the antenna thereby determining that a specific object has been fed to a specific location.
