    • PURPOSE: A catalytic converter with a variable flow path and an exhaust gas control method using it are provided to protect poisoning of a catalyst and realize the superior durability of a catalyst discharge system for a long term. CONSTITUTION: A catalytic converter with a variable flow path includes a straight flow path(11), in which exhaust gas passes through a catalyst(10), and a valve(12) mounted to the straight flow path. The valve is opened or closed by an actuator(13) and a solenoid(14) using the negative suction pressure of an engine. The solenoid is turned on or off by an output control of an ECU according to the temperature of a cooling water of the engine.

    • PURPOSE: An exhaust line element with a thermonasty actuator is provided to prevent a piston from becoming out of a shaft as an inner body effectively guides a hollow body. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust line element with a thermonasty actuator comprises an EGR driving unit(45) and an inner chamber(47). The EGR driving unit comprises a body(51), a main piston ring(53), and an over travel piston ring(55). The body connected to the inner chamber vertically moves. The main piston ring returns a piston(49) which moves between the inner chamber and the body. The over travel piston ring is vertically placed between the piston and the body to absorb over travel energy if the temperature of a heating proof material exceeds a critical value. The body is connected to the piston, main piston ring, over travel piston ring, and the closed valve.

    • PURPOSE: A variable catalyst device is provided to improve the efficiency of an engine by reducing the exhaust pressure of exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION: A bypass passage(42) is formed outside an MCC(Manifold type Catalyst Converter) catalyst(30) to pass exhaust gas into an exhaust manifold(12) without passing through the MCC catalyst. A partition(43) separates the entrances of the MCC catalyst and the bypass passage by forming in bypass holes(44,46) to pass the exhaust gas through the middle. A variable on valve(50) closes the bypass passage(44). The variable on valve permits the flowing of the exhaust gas through the bypass passage by opening when the temperature of the exhaust gas is raised. A variable pressure valve(60) closes the bypass hole(46). The variable pressure valve permits the flowing of the exhaust gas toward the bypass passage by opening when the pressure of the exhaust gas is raised. Thereby, the reduction of an engine output according to the exhaust pressure increase of an engine is prevented.
