    • PURPOSE: Graphite, a method for manufacturing the same, and refractory with the low thermal conductivity are provided to expand the life expectancy of the refractory and improve the oxidation resistance characteristic of the graphite by coating alumina on the surface of the graphite. CONSTITUTION: Aluminum alkoxide is coated on the surface of graphite(S10). Graphite coated with the aluminum alkoxide is added in a solvent. The solvent is ethanol. The hydrolysis reaction of the aluminum alkoxide is implemented to coat alumina on the surface of the graphite(S20). In the hydrolysis reaction, 100.0 of water and ethanol-based solution is mixed with 7-80 parts by weight of the graphite coated with the aluminum alkoxide. The solvent is eliminated to obtain the graphite coated with the alumina(S30). The thermal conductivity of the graphite coated with the alumina is between 1 and 10Kcal/mhr°C.
