摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance muffler having a small outer diameter but a large expansion chamber by making a space between a body outer plate and a body inner plate while preventing interference of the body outer plate and the body inner plate and surely securing an air layer between the body outer plate and the body inner plate in the muffler for an internal combustion engine having a body wall comprised of the body outer plate, the body inner plate and damping material inserted therebetween.
SOLUTION: The damping material 8 is characterized by knitting metal wire to elastic mesh. Vibration of a muffler body wall can be prevented while suppressing weight increase without reducing capacity of the muffler. Insulation of the body outer plate can be done by the air layer among the mesh.
