    • PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a speed change gear, by arranging a planeraty gear train on a planetary carrier so that the change-over between normal and reverse rotations and speed-changes are carried out in the combina tion of the operating conditions of a reverse brake for limiting the rotation of a ring gear and a forward brake for limiting the rotation of a sun gear. CONSTITUTION:In a torque converter, a planeraty gear train is rotatably ar ranged on a planetary carrier 68. Further, a sun gear 70 is coupled to a first guide vane 46, and a reverse brake R is provided for limiting the rotation of a ring gear 60. Then, a high speed brake H and a low speed brake L (forward brake) are provided for limiting the rotations of the planetary carrier 68 and the sun gear. With this arrangement speed shifts may be made only by selective ly turning on the brakes R, H, L, and no swivel joint is required, thereby it is possible to simplify the structure of the speed change gear.

    • PURPOSE: To improve fuel consumption and eliminate a transmission loss of a torque convertor, by providing over drive operation with an engine lock-up mechanism not through a torque convertor.
      CONSTITUTION: A trans-axle front wheel drive mechanism 1 is composed of a convertor 2, three-speed automatic transmission gear 3, front wheel final reduction gear 4 interposed therebetween, and valve lock 5 of a hydraulic controller arranged at the lower part of said automatic transmission gear 3. An over drive mechanism 6 is attached to the rear part opposite to the torque convertor 2 of the automatic transmission gear 3. When a vehicle speed is increased and a reverse clutch is engaged, power is input from the sun gears 14a, 14b of a planetary gear 14 at the same time, causing the reverse clutch 17 to be united, whereby a turbine shaft 10 is directly coupled with an output shaft 21.
