    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder head gasket capable of preventing intrusion of a combustion gas to a turning-back portion.SOLUTION: A cylinder head gasket 1 includes two sheets of gasket substrates 2, 3 provided with full beads 2b, 3b surrounding combustion chamber holes 2a, 3a, an intermediate plate 4 disposed between two sheets of gasket substrates, and a grommet substrate 5 disposed at a cylinder head side or a cylinder block side with respect to the gasket substrate, and having a turning-back portion 5a formed in a state of covering the gasket substrate and a combustion chamber hole 4a of the intermediate plate. An end portion of the turning-back portion 5a of the grommet substrate 5, is disposed at an outer peripheral side with respect to the full beads 3b, a bent portion 5c bent to the gasket substrate 3 side is disposed on the end portion of the turning-back portion 5a, and a tip of the bent portion 5c is brought into contact with the gasket substrate 3 to seal the part.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal gasket capable of suppressing backward bending of a first intermediate plate even if the thickness of contact sections for contacting with a shim plate of the first intermediate plate is varied in a circumferential direction of cylinder holes.SOLUTION: The metallic gasket 10 comprises: a pair of beaded sheets 14 which has the plurality of cylinder holes 12 corresponding to a plurality of cylinder bores and also has full beads 22 for surrounding the respective cylinder holes; the first intermediate sheet 18 disposed between the pair of beaded sheets; and the shim sheet 16 disposed in regions around the respective cylinder holes so as to be disposed between the first intermediate sheet and one of the beaded sheets. The thickness of the contact sections 19 of the first intermediate sheet with the shim sheet, is varied in a circumferential direction of the cylinder holes, and circular arc-shaped slits 23 for surrounding the outer sides of the contact sections, the thickness of which is varied, are formed in the first intermediate sheet. The thickness of the contact sections 19 is varied in the circumferential direction of the cylinder holes 12 to obtain an optimum contact pressure force, and the amount of backward bending of the first intermediate sheet caused by the formation of the contact sections 19 can be reduced by the slits 23.

      SOLUTION: The cylinder head gasket 1 is equipped with at least one seal plate 11, 12 furnished with a combustion chamber hole 2 bored in alignment with the position of the cylinder bore and full beads 11a and 12a surrounding the combustion chamber hole 2, a thickness adjusting plate 16 to adjust the thickness of the cylinder head gasket, and the shim plate 17 arranged over the range where the full beads are formed and increasing the contact pressure around the combustion chamber hole. The thickness adjusting plate 16 has a thickness t2 at the outer circumference side end part located opposite to the combustion chamber hole, which thickness t2 is smaller than the thickness t1 at the combustion chamber hole side. Instead of changing the thickness of the thickness adjusting plate 16, a coating layer with the thickness varied may be provided, or the thickness of the shim plate 17 is varied.
