    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering damper with a configuration giving little influence to steering inertia. SOLUTION: A turnable partition wall 30 is provided in a hydraulic chamber 26 of the steering damper 10 for partitioning an interior thereof into a right hydraulic chamber 27 and a left hydraulic chamber 28. A shaft 23 provided at one end of the partition wall 30 is connected to a steering shaft 14 in a coaxial and integrally turnable manner. Both hydraulic chambers 27, 28 are communicated with each other via a liquid passage 33 and a control valve 31 provided on the midway thereof is changed over into a lock portion 34 or a restriction portion 35 to put damping force into a zero or existing condition. The change-over is controlled in linkage with the ON/OFF of a main switch 15 by a control device 32. The restriction portion 35 has a variable passage section and it is also controlled in response to the rotating angle speed of the steering shaft 14 by the control device 32. A relatively heavy portion such as a body 17 casing the steering damper 10 is fixed to the front part of a vehicle body supporting the steering shaft 14 and the relatively lighter partition wall 30 is situated on the steering side.
