    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an enormous resistance change rate based on a point contact between ferromagnetic substances with excellent reproducibility using a practical device structure, and indispensable when it is utilized as a magnetic reproducing head or the like.
      SOLUTION: The magnetic resistance effect element 1 comprises a magnetization fixing layer 5 having a ferroelectric metal film of which a magnetization direction is fixed substantially in one direction, a magnetization free layer 7 having a ferromagnetic metal film of which a magnetization direction changes corresponding to an external magnetic field, an intermediate layer 6 interposed between the magnetization fixed layer 5 and the magnetization free layer 7, and a pair of electrodes 3, 4 for conducting a sense current perpendicularly to the film surface of each layer. The intermediate layer 6 includes an insulating layer 13 and a conduction 14 composed of a semi-metal compound or a semiconductor compound having a magnetic moment disposed in the insulating layer 13.
