SOLUTION: The fuel injection system comprises a cylindrical body 140 slidably receiving a plunger 110 and defining a pressure-feeding chamber C for fuel, a fuel supply passage 221a having a supply port 161a capable of communicating with the pressure-feeding chamber, a first vale element 160 allowing fuel in the supply passage to flow into the pressure-feeding chamber, a return passage 136 capable of returning a part of fuel in the pressure-feeding chamber to where the fuel was, a communication path 147 providing communication between the supply passage and the return passage, a discharge passage 146 having a discharge port 141 b for discharging fuel in the pressure-feeding chamber into the return passage, and an injection nozzle 300 for injecting pressurized fuel in the pressure-feeding chamber, wherein the discharge passage 146 is formed to be isolated from the communication path 147 by a partition wall 148 extending to a predetermined position above the supply port 161a and the discharge port 141b and to communicate with the return passage 136. With this, vapor mixed with fuel in the pressure-feeding chamber is efficiently discharged and fuel can be stably injected with high accuracy, in particular at high temperature.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection system by which a break or an abnormal condition of a solenoid in a fuel injection module can be detected in a simple and inexpensive constitution. SOLUTION: The fuel injection system comprises a control unit 6 producing solenoid-driving signals for controlling energization to the solenoid 101 on the basis of vehicle-driving conditions. On the basis of a value of a current to be fed to the solenoid in a specified timing during energization to the solenoid 101, the control unit 6 determines a break or an abnormal condition of the solenoid, and at the same time drives an indicator 15 to indicate the determination.
