    • A rotary encoder used mainly in a peripheral apparatus for computers, a portable telephone, an on-board electronic device for automobiles, and the like, in which an encoder unit and a linearly-driven type component are operable by a rotating manipulation and a tilting manipulation of an operating axle. The rotary encoder provides accuracy and is capable of producing a large number of output signals without requiring an increase in external dimensions. The rotary encoder is so constructed that flexible contacts and make resilient contact with movable contacts on a peripheral surface of a cylindrical rotor in a main unit of the encoder. The operating axle is pivotally supported by fitting it in an axle-supporting portion of the rotor in a manner that the operating axle is rotatable together with the rotor and is also tiltable. A cylindrical operating knob is attached to the operating axle that protrudes sideways from the rotor, and a push switch is disposed in a position to be in contact with a distal end of the same operating axle, and thereby making the main unit of the encoder operable by rotating manipulation and the push switch by tilting manipulation of the operating axle.

    • A non-reciprocal circuit element which can be miniaturized while still providing a matching capacitance having a large value. A circulator, for example, has central electrodes and a multilayer substrate for forming a matching capacitance. The multilayer substrate is formed by stacking a plurality of dielectric sheets provided with central electrodes or matching capacitive electrodes with each other and integrally firing the same. The matching capacitance is formed by connecting multilayer capacitive parts which are formed by stacking a number of dielectric sheets which are each partially sandwiched by a pair of capacitive electrodes in parallel with each other. An upper surface of the multilayer substrate has a first aperture for receiving a ferrite member and a second aperture for receiving a permanent magnet in positions facing the central electrodes.

    • A thin switch includes, (a) a rectangular insulating substrate, (b) a unitary fixed contact member comprising a T-shaped conductive thin-metal including a fixed contact, a first terminal, and a first conductive part therebetween, and (c) a movable contact member including a unitary elastic and T-shaped conductive thin-metal including a domed contact, a second terminal, and a second conductive part therebetween. The fixed contact member is placed so that the fixed contact is located roughly at the center of a surface of the insulating substrate and the first terminal is located at one edge of the insulating substrate. The first terminal is attached to the insulating substrate. The movable contact member is placed so that the domed contact is located over the fixed contact and the second terminal is located at the opposite edge of the insulating substrate. The second terminal is attached to the insulating substrate.
