    • The present invention relates to a self-sealing tyre for vehicle wheels comprising at least one carcass ply (3), a tread band (7) in a crown zone of the tyre, at least one liner (9) applied in radially internal position with respect to said carcass ply, a sealing assembly (12) applied in radially internal position with respect to the liner and axially extended at least at a part of the crown portion; wherein said sealing assembly (12) comprises a self-supporting elastomeric film (11) comprising at least 50% by weight with respect to the weight of the film of a thermoplastic elastomeric polyurethane (TPU), and a layer of sealing material (10) associated with and supported by said self-supporting elastomeric film (11); wherein the self-supporting elastomeric film (11) is radially internal with respect to the layer of sealing material (10) and said layer of sealing material is in contact with the liner (9).

    • In manufacturing a tire containing a sealer, an outside liner is adhered to the inner surface of a body of the tire, and an inside liner is adhered to the inner surface of the side wall of the tire body at both the right and left sides of the liner, to thereby provide a space for filling a sealer between the central portion of the inside liner and the inner surface of the outside liner. Since the tire body is comprised mainly of a mixture of butyl rubber and natural rubber or a mixture of butyl rubber and acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber, the outside liner is comprised mainly of natural rubber and the inner liner is comprised mainly of butyl rubber, the outside liner and the inside liner does not adhere to each other in curing and forming. This allows securing the formation of a space for a sealer without the use of a releasing agent or a releasing sheet.
