    • The subject matter of the invention is a portable burner for cutting holes out of curved and flat coatings, especially holes for connectors in the metal coatings of tank-type apparatus, using an oxygen, plasma or other type of torch. The essence of the invention is that the burner consists of two rings interacting with each other (2 and 3), one of which (2) is immovable, has mounting feet (7) by means of which it is placed on a coating (1), whereas the other (3) rotates on the immovable one. The two rings keep in touch with each other by means of roller bearings. The rotating ring (3), driven by an electric motor (4), is equipped with a beam (5). Two torches (14 and 16) moving vertically along a bar (18) are fixed to the beam (5). The bar (18) runner (22) moves horizontally along the beam (5) by means of a slide (8). The position of the torches against the centre of the ring is determined by the radius of a hole to cut. The slope of the torches results from an angle of bevelling. The distance between the torches and the curved surface of a material to cut (1) is being adjusted, while cutting, by the sliding bar (18) driven by a stepper motor (23) controlled by a proximity sensor (15), placed at the bar (18).

    • A wheeled trolley carries various tools across an object to be worked. A track attaches directly to the work and simultaneously isolates the tool from the work. A standard connection to the trolley readily accommodates a variety of diverse tools, using a keyway or the like to ensure accurate and repeatable placement of the tools. A preferred contouring guide allows a tool to be moved through an arc, where the focal point of the arc may be set to produce an infinite variety of custom shapes, bevels or angles of cut. An upper stop is provided which readily sets the break line between surface finish and edge contour. An adjustable tool carriage allows control over both position and force, including preloading a work tool with force. Resilience is incorporated into the apparatus to accommodate diverse hardness and abrasion characteristics, and, in at least one embodiment, to enable the track to accurately follow a warped or sagging work piece. Additional supports permit the following of a non-linear edge, and the polishing of arcs and circular objects.
