摘要： A semiconductor process and apparatus provide a T-shaped structure (96) formed from a polysilicon structure (10) and an epitaxially grown polysilicon layer (70) and having a narrower bottom critical dimension (e.g., at or below 40 nm) and a larger top critical dimension (e.g., at or above 40 nm) so that a silicide may be formed from a first material (such as CoSi 2 ) in at least the upper region (90) of the T-shaped structure (96) without incurring the increased resistance caused by agglomeration and voiding that can occur with certain silicides at the smaller critical dimensions.

摘要： A TV signal switching system (10) including a switch (12) configured to be connected to two or more signal sources such as a DVD player, VCR, satellite receiver, cable TV connection, VHF/UHF antenna, computer, Web TV and other internet interfaces, TiVo and other digital recording and playback systems, game console, a live feed from a video camera or other image capture device, or other TV signal source, and connectable to a remote TV monitor (28) by a coaxial cable (22) or equivalent, and a switch controller (34) located adjacent the remote TV configured to select a signal source for the remote TV monitor by signaling the switch over the coaxial cable to connect the desired signal source (14, 16, 18, or 20) to the remote TV monitor. The signaling is done by sending a digital signal over the coaxial cable, which can be a series of pulses indicative of the desired source to be connected, whereupon the switch connects the desired input to the remote TV monitor coaxial cable. More than one remote TV monitor (28, 30, 32) and switch controller (34, 36, 38) can be included, each location connected by a coaxial cable (22, 24, 26) to the switch (12) and the signal source selectable by each remote location TV monitor switch control unit being connected independent of what source, even the same source, is connected to one or more other of the connected TV monitors and control units located by them at remote locations.

摘要： A technique for alleviating the problems of defects caused by stress applied to bond pads (32) includes, prior to actually making an integrated circuit (10), adding dummy metal lines (74, 76) to interconnect layers (18, 22, 26) to increase the metal density of the interconnect layers. These problems are more likely when the interlayer dielectrics (16, 20, 24) between the interconnect layers are of a low-k material. A critical area or force area (64) around and under each bond pad defines an area in which a defect may occur due to a contact made to that bond pad. Any interconnect layer in such a critical area that has a metal density below a certain percentage can be the cause of a defect in the interconnect layers. Any interconnect layer that has a metal density below that percentage in the critical area has dummy metal lines added to it.

摘要： The present invention expedites cross polarization of a polarized signal from a transmitter such as a satellite. According to one method, an antenna is oriented to point to a first window (152) to communicate with a first satellite. The antenna is peaked to find a first vector (182) for maximum signal strength. The antenna is then oriented to point to a second window to communicate with a second satellite, and peaked to find a second vector for maximum signal strength. The first and second vectors are manipulated to obtain a third vector extending between the first and second satellites, and the skew angle for cross polarization of the antenna is derived from the third vector. Alternatively, the antenna may have two LNB's to permit peaking of the first and second satellites simultaneously. When both satellites are peaked, the antenna will automatically be disposed at the proper skew angle for cross polarization.

摘要： There are provided devices, systems and processes to treat slurries that include magnetic and nonmagnetic particles suspended in water in such a fashion as to separate certain valuable elements and/or minerals from less valuable minerals or elements. A high intensity magnetic separator includes at least one large rotatable turntable that defines at least one circular channel therethrough in which a matrix material is positioned. The turntable is configured to rotate in a generally horizontal plane about a generally vertical virtual axis, causing the at least one circular channel to rotate through a plurality of intermittent magnetic and nonmagnetic zones generated by a plurality of permanent magnet members. A treatment slurry is directed into the channel or channels in one or more of the magnetic zones as the turntable rotates.

摘要： An integrated circuit (11) has metal bumps (80) on the top surface that create a potentially destructive stress on the underlying layers (91-97) when the metal bumps are formed. Ensuring a minimum metal concentration in the underlying metal interconnect layers (91, 93, 95, 97) has been implemented to reduce the destructive effect. The minimum metal concentration is highest in the corners, next along the border not in the corner, and next is the interior. The regions in an interconnect layer (91, 93, 95, 97 generally under the metal bump (80) require more concentration than adjacent regions not under a bump. Lesser concentration is required for the metal interconnect layers (95, 97) that are further from the surface of the integrated circuit (11). The desired metal concentration is achieved by first trying a relatively simple solution. If that is not effective, different approaches are attempted until the minimum concentration is reached or until the last approach has been attempted.
