    • A disc brake comprises an operating mechanism (26) operable to move friction material pads (18) into contact with a disc (16). The operating mechanism comprises a support body (28) located on one side of the disc (16), a cylinder (30) defined by the support body, and a piston (32) in the cylinder. The operating mechanism also comprises a guidance member (36) for the pads (18). The guidance member (36) projects from the support body (28) past the disc (16) and supports an abutment (24) on which one of said pads (18) is mounted. The guidance member (36) is mounted on the support body (28) by means of a plurality of bolts (44) which extend through bores (48) in the guidance member to said abutment (24). The bolts (44) take the load during application of the brake.

    • A disc brake rotor (10, 100, 200) comprises mounting portion (14), a first friction portion (18) which provides an annular friction surface (22), a second friction portion (20) which provides the other annular friction surface (24), a connecting portion (26) which joins said mounting portion (18) to said first friction portion, and vanes (28) which extend between said friction portions (18, 20), and support said second friction portion (20). The vanes (28) define cooling ducts (29) extending radially outwardly of the rotor (10, 100, 200). The first (18) and the second (20) friction portions vary in thickness in radial directions, the first friction portion (18) having its greatest thickness at a radius which is greater than the radius at which the second friction portion (20) has its greatest thickness.

    • A method of forming a heat exchanger from aluminium or aluminium alloy components. The method comprises forming the components, at least one of which is a tubular component (10), assembling the components, and brazing the components together. Said tubular component (10) is formed by bending a sheet bringing opposite edge portions (10a) of the sheet into overlapping relationship with one another, the gap (12) between said overlapping portions extending along said component. A bead (14) containing particles of brazing flux in a solvent is applied to the tubular component (10) along the exposed end (12a) of said gap, and an adhesive agent (16) is applied on top of said bead (14) so that the flux material is encapsulated. During the brazing the tubular component (10) is orientated so that the flux flows into said gap (12) and enables a brazed joint to be formed between the overlapping portions (10a).
