    • A continuous annealing technique for a steel band. Since a deformation occurs due to the weight of coil itself at the lower end of the coil making contact with a base plate of an annealing oven for a cold rolled steel plate, the value of the product is lowered remarkably. In order to prevent this, a method is known wherein the part which will become the lower end of the coil is selectively cooled by a selective cooler (7) at a cooling step (3) after a continuous annealing step before annealing a coil box. This device contemplates to avoid the effect of the variation in the length of the side edges of the steel band due to the deformation caused by the selective cooling owing to the variation in the state of a continuous annealing oven and other factors. This device effectively reduces the deformation caused at the lower end of the coil by controlling a selective cooler (7) according to a steel band plate end detector (8), a plate temperature detector (9) or tension detector (14).
