The device includes a first unit defining a chamber, and the chamber includes a first region for receiving a sample and a second region including at least one electrophoretic medium. The device includes a second unit extending from a first end to a second end, and the second unit is interfaceable with the first unit. A mesh structure is located at the second end of the second unit and is impregnated with an electrophoretic medium that includes copolymerized capture probes. The second region is located between the first region and the mesh structure when the first unit is interfaced with the second unit.

The invention provides a microsystem platform and a micromanipulation device for manipulating the platform that utilizes the centripetal force resulting from rotation of the platform to motivate fluid movement through microchannels. The invention specifically provides devices and methods for performing miniaturized in vitro amplification assays such as the polymerase chain reaction. Methods specific for the apparatus of the invention for performing PCR are provided.

摘要： A thin gel for separating and detecting a target molecule, (e.g. an analyte) and methods of use thereof is described. The gel can be optionally reinforced to facilitate removal from an electrophoretic apparatus, wherein the gel matrix comprises immobilized (e.g., covalently bound) capture probes capable of specifically hybridizing with, or binding to, the analyte to be detected. The gel is thin and very short assay times can be achieved facilitating rapid detection of analytes. An assay apparatus is suitable for use with an electrophoretic assay system for the detection of, or separation and detection of an analyte in a biological sample is also described.

In one embodiment, the body is folded into a folded configuration, about a longitudinal centerline, to define the internal cavity which at least partially encloses while in another embodiment, the body is generally oval in shape and has an exterior surface which extends completely around and encases the strap.
