摘要： A high speed system (1) for embedding antenna wire (136) within a non-conductive (e.g. plastic) sheet (30) on which electronic chips are mounted for manufacturing a plurality of smart cards (32), or the like. The antenna wire (136) is installed in the non-conductive sheet (30) by an ultrasonic actuator (5) that is moved up and down relative to the sheet from one smart card to the next. The movement of the actuator (5) relative to the sheet (5) is controlled by the interaction between a stationary voicecoil magnet (92) and a voicecoil (76) that is coupled to the ultrasonic actuator (5) and moveable with a slide assembly (7). Antenna wire (136) is fed to the ultrasonic actuator from an antenna wire dispensing spool (124) by way of an idler assembly (14). The idler assembly includes an encoder (150) which is responsive to an increase in tension in the antenna wire feed line. Depending upon the output of the encoder (150), the speed and rotation of the wire dispensing spool (124) is controlled until the tension in the antenna wire feed line is eliminated.

摘要： In the processing circuit layer (106) of a card mounted with circuit chip, a processing section which is incorporated with a nonvolatile memory, MODEM circuit, and capacitor, and performs communication processing is constituted. In the constitution of the layer (106), in addition, a coil (44) constituted by forming a metallic wire in a loop-like shape is provided. Since a communicating function is obtained by only using one IC chip (104) in which the processing section and an antenna function are integrated, no wiring is required on the outside of the chip (104). Therefore, no wiring disconnection, etc., occurs. In addition, the assemblage of a card mounted with circuit chip becomes extremely easier. As a result, a highly reliable and inexpensive card mounted with circuit chip can be obtained.

摘要： A multi layered card embodying the invention includes an outer layer of an amorphous laser reactive copolymer material which is embossed with a selected pattern at a selected temperature which is above the glass transition temperature, Tg, of the copolymer and below its melting temperature, Tm. So embossed, the selected pattern is set in the copolymer layer, and its external shape cannot be changed from the embossed form to which it was set at the selected temperature, without destroying the selected pattern. The outer layer may be laminated with the other layers of the card and laser engraved before or after lamination.
