摘要： A compression collar is used for reinforcing an interference fit between a piping end and a fitting. The compression collar comprises a reinforcing ring having a tubular geometry with a radially-inward facing surface and a radially-outward facing surface. A sleeve is received around, at least in part, a portion of the radially-outward facing surface of the reinforcing ring and this sleeve wraps around one axial end of the reinforcing ring to form a stop edge thereon.

摘要： Heat-recoverable articles, especially heat-shrinkable tubular articles, having an open end are formed so that the section adjacent said open end has a lower recovery ratio than a section adjacent thereto, thereby substantially reducing the risk of splitting when the degree of recovery is high or in applications where a high degree of unrecovered strain remains after recovery about a substrate such as a supply line. A preferred article is a tubular cap which has an open end section having a first expansion ratio, an intermediate section having a second expansion ratio and a closed end section having a third expansion ratio, the second expansion ratio being greater than the first and third expansion ratios. Such a cap may be employed to seal a conduit against ingress of moisture and other contaminants. When a supply line is subsequently to be passed through the conduit the closed end may be removed and the article shrunk to grip the supply line.

In one embodiment, the prongs of the fastener are covered with a heat shrinkable sheath. In another, the prongs are overcoated with a powder coating which is melted thereon. A method of applying the sheath to the prongs uses a pair of jaws or V-shaped surface to drive the sheath onto the prongs.

摘要： A vinyl plastic sheet is preformed by being positioned over a first rectangular vacuum forming female mold having undercut peripheral edges for forming a return flange border allowing the vinyl sheet to be heated and vacuum formed into a preformed cover with the aid of plug assists which are used to develop boxlike corners while preventing excess reduction in the sheet material thickness. The preformed vinyl cover is then loosely slipped over a refrigerator metal door panel on whose outer surface an epoxy adhesive solvent has been applied. The door panel and vinyl cover are next located in a second male mold and initially heated. Upon partial shrinkage of the cover a vacuum assist is established to cause the vinyl cover to conform to the door panel and return flanges whereby ridging of the material on the underside of the return flange corner junctures is prevented.

Inserting the end of the handle into a heat shrinkable end cap and providing heat to the cap to shrink it and thus seal the end of the tool. 摘要： A method and apparatus are shown for lining a tubular member with an elastomeric liner having an outside diameter which is initially greater than the inside diameter of the tubular member. A series of downsizing rollers reduce the outside diameter of the liner a preselected amount. A series of shaping rollers form the downsized liner into an ellipse, thereby allowing the downsized liner to be guided around bends and turns into the interior of the tubular member. After insertion, the liner is allowed to expand to substantially its original outside diameter to secure the liner within the tubular member.

摘要： A process for making an article having an irregular internal passage utilizes a hollow polymer preform. The preform is filled with a relatively incompressible filler material such as a powder or a fluid, which supports the preform when it is placed in a mold, e.g. an injection mold. The filler enables the preform to withstand high molding pressures and prevents deflection and movement of the internal passage within the preform. The shell, a layer of a polymer material is then molded about the preform. After the final article has been formed, consisting of the preform and shell, the filler is removed for possible reuse.
