    • The invention concerns a device for controlling a complex manufacturing process. The device comprises at least one remote monitor designed to receive in real time signals through a local area network making it possible to analyse the state of the manufacturing process. There are a plurality of sensors, each of the sensors transforming the value of an associated parameter of the manufacturing process so as to produce an analogue signal. There is an analogue to digital converter associated with each of the sensors for producing a succession of numerical values representing the instantaneous state over time of the corresponding parameter. Each of the converters is interfaced with the local area network. A processor for processing the numerical values and comparing them with given reference values is also connected to the local area network such that the local area network conveys the result of the comparison to the remote monitor or monitors and also conveys the information coming from the analogue to digital converter to the processing means.

    • A microprocessor may include a logic circuit for executing instructions of a data processing application. The microprocessor may have a timer system which includes a clock counter connected to a clock input for receiving a clock signal and counting a number of cycles of the clock signal. A clock comparator may be connected the clock counter and to a timer register in which a timer reference value can be stored. The clock comparator may compare a number of cycles of the clock signal with the timer reference value and generate a timer signal based on the comparison. The timer system may have a timer output for outputting timer signal. The timer system may include a control input for receiving a digital value representing a measured value of a sensed parameter of a device and a control register in which a control reference value can be stored. A control comparator may be connected the control input. The control comparator may compare the digital value with the reference value and generating a device control signal based on the comparison. The timer system may have a control output for outputting the device control signal to an actuator arranged to control the parameter of the device.

    • A position control circuit having a demodulator with automatic tuning capability for use in an electro-hydraulic positioning system used to position a servo device. The position control circuit includes the demodulator, an analog to digital converter with an input voltage range, and a microcontroller. The demodulator has a gain and is operable to convert a feedback signal from the servo device to a position signal having a lower voltage value when the servo device is at its 0% position and an upper voltage value when the servo device is at its 100% position; the lower voltage value and upper voltage values being a function of the demodulator gain. Upon operator initiation, the microcontroller automatically calculates the largest value for the demodulator gain that results in the position signal from the demodulator having a lower voltage value within a lower voltage range and an upper voltage value within an upper voltage range, where the lower voltage range and the upper voltage range are within the input voltage range of the analog to digital converter.
