摘要： A control for operating an electromagnetic machine in a starting mode of operation wherein the main armature winding of the machine receives electrical power from a controllable power source during the starting mode of operation, comprises a circuit for detecting a magnitude of a parameter of power applied to the main armature winding relative to a stationary frame of reference, a position sensor for detecting rotor position of the electromagnetic machine, a converter responsive to angular position indication for converting the detected parameter magnitude into field and torque producing components relative to a rotating frame of reference, and a circuit responsive to the field and torque producing components for controlling the power source during operation in the starting mode. This control includes an igniter for igniting a prime mover. Further, the control is operable during a first phase prior to ignition of the prime mover for causing the electromagnetic machine to provide motive power to the prime mover so as to accelerate the prime mover at a first predetermined rate, is operable during a second phase subsequent to the first phase so as to accelerate the prime mover at a second predetermined rate, is operable during this second phase for providing fuel to the prime mover to facilitate ignition thereof, and is operable during a third phase subsequent to the ignition of the prime mover so as to accelerate the prime mover at a third predetermined rate to a self-sustaining speed.

A battery supplies voltage to a control circuit for the generator through a selectively opened and closed switch. A control detects a short circuit on the aircraft DC bus. The battery switch allows power from the battery to flow to provide control voltage for the generator when the control detects a short circuit on the aircraft DC bus.

摘要： The present invention is a generator control system where each generator in the system has an associated controller. Each controller communicates generator data or information with the other controllers in the generator control system. Each of the controllers includes a digital signal processor for analyzing the generator signal from the associated generator and information from the other controllers in the generator control system. The controllers each compare their generator signal with a system average and adjust the associated generator until the generators all supply equal amounts of power to the system.

摘要： An electrically compensated constant speed drive which is speed limited so that power flow through the speed compensation link is unidirectional includes a permanent magnet generator which is interconnected with a permanent magnet motor by a power converter. The permanent magnet generator and the permanent magnet motor are controlled by first and second independent control loops. The power converter includes an AC/DC converter coupled to electrical power windings of the permanent magnet generator, a filter coupled to the output of the AC/DC converter and an inverter coupled between the filter and electrical power windings of the permanent magnet motor. The permanent magnet generator, AC/DC converter, filter and the first control loop together develop a voltage on a DC bus. The voltage on the DC bus, which is coupled to the inverter, is sufficient to operate the permanent magnet motor with the required speed and torque, and thus the second control loop need not implement a voltage control scheme, such as a PMW control.

摘要： An aircraft electrical system comprises a generator to be driven as part of a gas turbine engine. The generator supplies electrical power to a plurality of accessories associated with the gas turbine engine, and to an aircraft power bus in parallel to the supply to the accessories. A control detects a short circuit on the aircraft power bus. When a short circuit is detected on the aircraft power bus, a switch is driven open to disconnect the aircraft power bus from the generator. In this manner, the power will continue to be delivered to the plurality of accessories. In a separate feature, a control voltage is provided by an auxiliary permanent magnet generator to a voltage regulator for the main generator.
