摘要： An aircraft-mounted external fire detection system includes optical circuitry and processing circuitry. The optical circuitry is mounted on an aircraft forward of an engine nacelle of the aircraft, and is configured to optically monitor an exterior of the engine nacelle for a hydrocarbon fire by detecting radiation outside of the visible light spectrum. The processing circuitry is communicatively coupled to the optical circuitry and is configured to use the optical circuitry to determine that the fire has been continuously present for more than a threshold duration, and in response, transmit a warning to an operator terminal of the aircraft.

摘要： A liquid tank system comprises a main liquid tank, an outlet communicating between a fluid circuit and the main liquid tank, an inlet communicating between the fluid circuit and the main liquid tank, and an auxiliary cavity. First vent passage and second vent passage(s) communicate between the main liquid tank and the auxiliary cavity and allows liquid and gas to flow from the main liquid tank to the auxiliary cavity. The second vent passage has a flow control device regulating flow through the second vent passage and having a set point at which it allows liquid and gas to flow from the main liquid tank to the auxiliary cavity only when a pressure in the main liquid tank is beyond a threshold. The liquid tank system has an attitude envelope in which the liquid tank system is configured such that, in use, the flow control device blocks flow through the second vent passage when an end of the first vent passage in the main liquid tank is above a liquid level, and the flow control device allows gas and/or fluid flow through the second vent passage when main fluid tank pressure is above the threshold and the end of the first vent passage in the main liquid tank is below the liquid level.

摘要： A method of repairing a component comprises identifying a non-compliant surface of the component, wherein the non-compliant surface is not within an allowable tolerance, cold spraying a powder comprising a metal onto the non-compliant surface, and forming a coating comprising the metal over the non-compliant surface, wherein an outer surface of the coating is within an allowable tolerance. In an embodiment, the method of repairing an outer component further comprises machining the outer surface of the coating. In an embodiment, the component is a shaft, a rotor mast, an input quill, or a bearing. In an embodiment, the component contains electronic equipment during the cold spraying, and wherein the cold spraying does not damage the electronic equipment. In an embodiment, the component is repaired without subjecting the component to a hydrogen embrittlement bake.

摘要： An optical power transfer system for powering a remote mobility system for multiple missions comprising a high power source and a chilling station connected to a laser source. The laser source transmits a high optical energy to a beam switch assembly via an optical fiber. The beam switch assembly is optically connected to actively cooled fiber spoolers. Docking stations are adapted for securing the fiber spoolers until alternatively ready for use by a remote mobility system. The remote mobility system is optically connected to the fiber spoolers and has a receiving port adapted for securing the fiber spoolers thereon. The fiber spooler transmits the optical energy to a power conversion system which converts the optical energy received to another usable form of energy. More than one power source may be used where the remote mobility system transfers from one source to another while maintaining an operational radius to each source.

摘要： An optical power transfer system for launching a spacecraft into low Earth orbit comprising a ground-based laser power generation station and a launch vehicle optically connected thereto. The generation station is capable of generating high optical power in the range of kilowatts to tens of megawatts and transferring the optical power generated to a launch vehicle to generate thrust. The generation station comprises a high power source, a chilling station, a laser, optical fiber, and at least one coupler. The launch vehicle comprises an actively cooled fiber spooler mounted thereon with a length of fiber for transmission of high optical energy circumscribing at least part thereof. The launch vehicle also contains a working fluid and fluid reservoir, a thruster assembly, an air intake and a storage chamber. In alternative embodiments, the launch vehicle may contain a beam switch assembly, multiple fiber spoolers and multiple thruster assemblies wherein at least one thruster assembly is gimbaled.
