    • Disclosed are assay systems, kits, and methods for performing an assay which determines the presence or quantity of an analyte in a fluid sample by detecting binding of the analyte to at least one immobilized analyte capture reagent and washing unbound material from the immobilized analyte capture reagent. An elongated solid phase flow matrix includes: (i) a first region adapted for receipt of the fluid sample, (ii) a second region at which the analyte capture reagent is immobilized, (iii) a third region for application of a liquid wash and/or detector reagent capable of removing unbound substances from the second region; and (iv) an absorbent reservoir of high volume capacity. The second region is positioned between the first region and the third region and between the absorbent reservoir and the third region. The device also includes means to detect analyte bound at the second region. The fluid sample flows by capillary action initially along the elongated flow matrix in one direction toward and through the second region, and subsequently, liquid wash and/or detector reagent flows along the matrix in a second direction opposite the first direction, through the second region, and into the absorbent reservoir, drawing unbound substances with it.

    • Invention performs an assay to determine presence or quantity of specific analyte in fluid sample. Representative device has two separate flow paths established sequentially in device with a single user activation step. First flow path delivers sample, and conjugate soluble binding reagents to solid phase. If analyte is present, an analyte:conjugate complex is formed and immobilized. Sample volume delivered by first path determined by absorbent capacity of solid phase, and not by amount of sample added to device. User need not measure sample volume. Sample/conjugate mixture is prevented from entering second flow path because capillary and surface energy of second flow path prevent it from being wetted by this mixture. Second flow path allows wash reagent to remove unbound conjugate and sample from solid phase to the absorbant, and optionally deliver detection reagents. Adaptable for many formats including, sandwich immunoassays, colloidal gold, sol particle, heterogeneous generic capture, and competitive assays.

    • Disclosed are devices and methods for performing an assay which determines the presence or quantity of an analyte in a fluid sample by detecting binding of the analyte to at least one immobilized analyte capture reagent and washing unbound material from the immobilized analyte capture reagent. The devices and methods an elongated solid phase flow matrix, including capillary channels capable of driving capillary fluid movement, and further including (i) a first region adapted for receipt of the fluid sample, (ii) a second region at which the analyte capture reagent is immobilized, (iii) a third region for application of a wash reagent capable of removing unbound substances from the second region; and (iv) an absorbent reservoir of high volume capacity. The flow matrix and the regions thereof are sized and positioned to cause the fluid sample to flow initially along the elongated flow matrix in one direction toward and through the second region, and subsequently, the liquid reagent to flow along the elongated flow matrix in a second direction opposite the first direction, through the second region, and into the absorbent reservoir, drawing unbound substances with it.

    • A garage door operator includes a head unit held by a supporting structure remote from the garage door. A rail has a first end held by a supporting structure adjacent the door and a second end fixed adjacent to and in alignment with a toothed drive wheel carried by the head unit. The garage door operator further includes an endless drive belt assembly trained about the drive wheel and a pulley held by the rail adjacent the garage door. The belt assembly includes a length of a plastic belt having teeth on one surface thereof matching the teeth on the drive wheel. The belt assembly further includes a trolley for connection to the garage door and a connector for joining one end of the plastic belt to one end of the trolley. The plastic belt has a lower surface to which the belt teeth extend, and the drive wheel has an upper surface to which the wheel teeth extend. Thus, the belt assembly can be installed by moving the plastic belt lower surface over the drive wheel upper surface until the respective sets of teeth are aligned, and moving the belt downwardly to train it about the drive wheel.

The tabs may be integral with the shield body and spaced a distance apart from each other.
