    • A device for splicing two belt ends together, the device comprising a first outer clamping plate, a second outer clamping plate and a central plate disposed between the first and second clamping plates. Each of the first and second clamping plates includes inwardly facing surfaces oriented toward the central plate. Gripping surfaces of the devices are improved. A first gripping region is disposed on the inwardly facing surfaces of the first and second clamping plates, the first gripping region having a plurality of rows of slotted teeth. A second gripping region is disposed on the inwardly facing surfaces of the first and second clamping plates and has a plurality of spaced apart elongated recesses positioned parallel to a long axis of the first and second clamping plates. A wedge member, to accommodate difference size and shape belts, is removably coupled to an end of the central plate.

    • A belt lacer uses a power drive carriage for clinching hook or C-shaped belt lacing elements to a belt end. Optionally, the carriage may be driven in a manual mode or a power mode. A detachable power drive such as from an electric drill may be used for the power mode. The power drive of the carriage may be stopped short of an end wall and a return mechanism may return the carriage to the power drive. A moveable belt support in a hand space position allows for working on the lacing elements and may be shifted to a belt supporting position. The belt clamp exerts a forwardly directed force on the belt as it is being clamped. Face plates or combs may be stored on the belt lacer. A latch secures the face plates against lateral sliding during clinching by clinching rollers on the carriage.

    • A system and method are provided for joining the ends of a bank-shaped elongate element. Alignment strips (3) are thereby fastened in the vicinity of the ends (1,2) of the elongate element, both alignment strips being formed by a sheet-like part (4) one edge of which is provided with a U-shaped element (5).     • A clipper seam for use with a pintle or lacing unit to join adjacent ends of a papermakers belt or the like. The clipper seam comprises two seam webbings, each of which is woven as a one-piece unit to form a pocket for receiving one of the ends of the papermakers belt. As woven, the pocket is defined by first and second flaps, each of the flaps having an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surfaces being in a spaced relationship to define the pocket, which is adapted to receive one of the ends of the papermakers belt. Each of the outer surfaces define a stepped, tapered construction. A tongue portion also forms part of the seam webbing. Recessed margins are provided on both the top and bottom surfaces of the tongue, near the distal end or selvage of the tongue. A plurality of clipper hooks adapted to receive one or more pintles are secured to the tongue within the recessed margin. The end of the papermakers belt is secured within the pocket through the use of stitching threads buried in the seam webbing.
