    • The object of the invention is to provide a composition for prevention and/or amelioration of life-style related disease, and/or a composition for inhibition and/or amelioration of increase in body weight, comprising at least one compound selected from the group consisting of glabrene, glabridin, glabrol, 3′-hydroxy-4′-O-methylglabridin, 4′-O-methylglabridin and hyspaglabridin B as compounds having a PPAR ligand activity effective in amelioration of insulin resistance and in prevention and/or amelioration of life-style related diseases such as visceral fat obesity, type 2 diabetes, hyperlipemia and hypertension, which can be utilized in food and drink such as health food and health functional food (food for specified uses and food with nutrient function), pharmaceutical preparations, non-pharmaceutical preparations, cosmetics etc. At least one compound selected from the group consisting of glabrene, glabridin, glabrol, 3′-hydroxy-4′-O-methylglabridin, 4′-O-methylglabridin and hyspaglabridin B is dissolved in medium-chain fatty acid triglycerides and/or partial glycerides, whereby the stability of the compound(s) is improved and the processability thereof into food and drink, pharmaceutical preparations, non-pharmaceutical preparations, cosmetics etc. is also improved.

    • A silver halide photosensitive material is described, comprising two or more monodisperse silver halide emulsions of different average grain size on a support, wherein at least one of the said monodisperse silver halide emulsions has an average grain size of at least 0.7 .mu.m, and at least one of the silver halide emulsions has a smaller average grain size than the other, the average grain size of the silver halide emulsion as a whole being within the range of from 0.33 to 0.54 .mu.m, with a coated silver weight of from 2.3 to 3.8 g/m.sup.2, and which contains a sensitizing dye represented by formula (I) ##STR1## wherein Z and Z.sub.1 each represents a group of non-metallic atoms forming a thiazole nucleus, a benzothiazole nucleus, or a benzoxazole nucleus; R.sub.0 represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an allyl group, or an aralkyl group; R and R.sub.1 each represents an alkyl group or an aryl group; L, L.sub.1, and L.sub.2 each represents a methine group; X represents an anion; and m represents 0 or 1, and an internal salt is formed when m is 0.

    • For formation of a photographic image by development of a silver halide photographic material with an automatic developing machine, a certain period of time or not longer than 15 seconds is set as the time of the development step and a silver halide photographic material is used which, when developed for a period of one-half of said certain period of time after such an exposure that the exposed silver halide photographic material, when developed for said certain period of time, would give a value of (Dmax-fog).times.1/2, gives a value of (D-fog) having 70% or more of the value of (Dmax-fog).times.1/2. The silver halide photographic material comprises at least one of a combination of (1), (2) and (3) or (2) and (4): where: (1) represents a silver halide emulsion containing a water-soluble iridium salt; (2) represents a silver halide emulsion layer with a silver amount from 1 to 3.5 grams/m.sup.2 coated on one surface of said emulsion layer; (3) represents silver halide grains wherein the mean grain size is 1.0 .mu. or less; and (4) represents tabular silver halide grains having an aspect ratio of 4 or more. By the rapid development procedure, a sharp image with no development unevenness (drag streaks) can be obtained and the automatic developing machine to be used may be made small-sized and compact.
