    • The invention provides a radiation curable release coating composition comprising:(a) about 1 to about 50 percent by weight of a cationically reactive polydiorganosiloxane liquid rubber having the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R are monovalent moieties which can be the same or different selected from the group consisting of alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, and substituted aryl wherein at least about 50% of the total number of silicon atoms have two methyl groups bonded thereto;E is an organic monovalent functional group comprising from about 1 to about 20 carbon atoms having at least one cationically co-reactive functional group;a and b both represent integers, wherein the sum of a plus b is an integer of about 10 to about 1200;b has a value ranging from about 0 to about 0.2a;a is an integer of about 10 to about 1000; andM is a silyl group which must contain at least one cationically co-reactive functional group when b=0 and may contain at least one cationically co-reactive group when b is greater than 0;(b) about 50 to about 99 percent by weight of at least one cationically co-reactive monomer copolymerizable with said cationically co-reactive functional group of said polydiorganosiloxane liquid rubber;wherein the percentages of (a) and (b) are based on the total weight of (a) plus (b); and(c) about 0.5 to about 4 parts by weight of a photoactive radiation activatable cationically reactive catalyst based on the weight of (a) plus (b).The invention also provides release coatings and methods of making release coatings.

The invention also provides release coatings and methods of making release coatings.

    • In one aspect, the invention provides a water-based release coating composition comprising a mixture of: A. from 0.1 to about 5 wt % of a fluoro(meth)acrylate (co)polymer or a fluorochemical urethane compound containing at least one fluorinated group having the formula —CF2)nCF3, wherein n is an integer from 1 to 3; B. from about 5 to about 99.9 wt % of a copolymer comprising the reaction product of a. from about 40 to about 70 wt % of an alkyl (meth)acrylate, wherein the alkyl group contains from 16 to 22 carbon atoms, b. from about 3 to about 20 wt % of (meth)acrylic acid, c. from about 20 to about 40 wt % acrylonitrile, and d. from 0 to about 15 wt % of vinyl monomer, other than acrylonitrile, wherein the sum of a. through d. equals 100%; and C. from 0 to about 94.9 wt % of an extender polymer, wherein the sum of A., B., and C. is 100% and wt % is based on the total amount of solids in the composition.

    • The present invention provides an acrylate/silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive tape having improved adhesion to painted surfaces and low temperature performance. The pressure-sensitive adhesive tape comprises:(a) a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer comprising a polymerized pressure sensitive adhesive composition wherein said pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprises:(I) about 25 to about 99 weight percent of polymer of the formula ##STR1## wherein: X, Y, D, R, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, and n are defined in the specification;(II) about 1 to about 75 weight percent free radically polymerizable vinyl monomer which is capable of copolymerizing with the polymer wherein said free radically polymerizable monomer comprises:(i) about 5 to about 100 parts by weight of an acidic monomer selected from the group consisting of methacrylic acid, acrylic acid, and mixtures thereof;(ii) about 0 to about 95 parts by weight of an acrylate monomer selected from the group consisting of esters of acrylic acid comprising 4 to 21 carbon atoms and esters of methacrylic acid comprising 5 to 21 carbon atoms and mixtures thereof; based upon 100 parts total by weight of said free radically polymerizable monomer; wherein the weight percentages set forth in elements,(I) and (II) are based upon the total weight of the polymer of element (I) plus the monomer of element (II); and(III) a sufficient amount of a silicate MQ tackifying resin to impart a degree of adhesive tack to the cured composition at the use temperature; and(b) a foam layer which is coated on at least one side with the adhesive layer.The present invention also provides the pressure sensitive adhesive composition and pressure sensitive adhesive.
