    • PURPOSE:To detect a coating condition of an undercoating in advance with a photographic process by incorporating a compd. having an absorption in a visual wavelength and capable of irreversibly decoloring to an undercoating layer. CONSTITUTION:The undercoating layer is coated on a substrate, and then an emulsion layer is coated thereon to improve an adhesion between the emulsion layer and the substrate. The prescribed compd. such as a triphenyl methane dye and a styryl dye is incorporated to the undercoating layer. After coating the undercoating layer on the substrate, a dyed pattern on the dyed undercoating layer is scanned by a light, thereby rapidly detecting a coating trouble of the undercoating layer and treating the trouble in advance. By incorporating the above described compd. to the undercoating layer, the coating condition of said layer is detected, and the residual coloring matter disappears by decoloring, thereby preventing a halation.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent cracking by drying and flawing under external force and to provide high resolving power by incorporating polymer latex into a pigment layer contg. a white pigment and a dye which is decolored or discharged in a photograhic process on a support. CONSTITUTION:A pigment layer consisting of a white pigment, a dye which is decolored or discharged in a photographic process and a hydrophilic binder is formed on at least one side of a photographic support, the pigment layer is coated with at least one photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer, and polymer latex is incorporated into the pigment layer. An intermediate layer may be formed on the pigment layer before the coating. The amount of the pigment in the pigment layer is >=50wt% (expressed in terms of solid matter) of the amount of the binder, gelatin is used as the binder, and the amount of the latex incorporated into the pigment layer is regulated to 10-150wt% (expressed in terms of solid matter) of the amount of the binder. Elasticity can be provided by incorporating the polymer latex into the pigment layer, and a photosensitive material protected from cracking by drying and from flawing under external force and having high resolving power can be obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To provide long-term shelf stability and high developability by forming at least one nonphotosensitive hydrophilic colloidal layer contg. a polyhydroxybenzene compound and coloring matter having an acid group on one side of a support. CONSTITUTION:An emulsion layer contg. photosensitive silver halide and hydrophilic colloid is formed on one side of a support. The silver halide particles contain rhodium. A nonphotosensitive hydrophilic colloidal layer contg. coloring matter having an acid group and a polyhydroxybenzene compound is formed on the other side of the support. The acid group is sulfonic acid, carboxylic acid, other acid group of the sodium, potassium or ammonium salt thereof. The polyhydroxybenzene compound is a compound having at least two hydroxyl groups on its benzene ring. The compound may have substituents such as halogen, alkyl, substituted alkyl, alkoxy, sulfonic acid or carboxy at positions other than the hydroxyl substituted positions. A photosensitive material obtd. by this method undergoes no change in contrast and fog with the lapse of time.
