    • PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of a process from matching through handling by providing a rotary drive function to a pressure roller to reduce the minimum allowance value of the frictional coefficient needed between a drive roller and a wafer. CONSTITUTION:A wafer 4 supported by a wafer support stage 23 by air pressure is moved toward free rollers 3, 5, 6 and 15 by a drive roller 16 attached to a pressure mechanism 18 in response to an action with which a matching substrate 25 moves toward the matching position. While a clutch 17 is energized after the plate 25 reaches a matching action point and turned with revolutions of the roller 16 produced by a motor 24. Thus the pressing force actuates the moment in opposite direction to the wafer 4 when an end of an orientation flat 4' of the wafer 4 reaches the roller 16. Then the clutch 17 is turned off with the detection signal of the flat 4'. Thus the rotation of the wafer 4 can be prevented. This can avoid an overrun state as well as a matching unable state.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the space for conveyance, simplify connecting work and promote its efficiency, by using a partition plate to divide a belt conveyor into an unfinished workpiece lane provided with an intake unit and a finished workpiece lane provided with a takeout unit and by installing a grabber between both the units. CONSTITUTION:When an unfinished workpiece V is supplied on an unfinished workpiece lane 1a, the direction of movement of the workpiece is shifted toward an outer edge by a gate 5 so that the workpiece goes into an intake chute 6 and drops down. A push-out unit 7 is then operated to push out the workpiece V forward to hole it by a grabber 15 and send the workpiece by an arm 14 to a numerical-controlled machine to turn one side of the workpiece. After the turning, a grabber 16 is moved to the finished workpiece W by the arm 14 to hold the workpiece and take it to the chute 9 of a takeout unit 8 to roll down the workpiece on an inverting chute 12. If the workpiece W, which is conveyed with its other side face-up after being transferred onto a finished workpiece lane 1b, needs to have the side machined, the side is processed by a lathe at an other-side-machining station.
