摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member subjected to surface working in such a manner that it has higher wear resistance and a lower friction coefficient than the conventional one.SOLUTION: The sliding member includes an Si-containing diamond-like carbon layer formed on a base material and a polymer brush layer fixed to the surface of the Si-containing diamond-like carbon layer by covalent bonding on a sliding face. Preferably, the polymer composing the polymer brush layer is produced by random-copolymerizing a monomer including a group having oleophilic properties and a monomer including a group capable of forming a cross-linked structure.

SOLUTION: A non-oil-soluble sulfur-containing compound containing at least 40 mass% sulfur element in its molecule consisting of only sulfur, nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen, or at least one oil-soluble sulfur-containing compound selected from the group consisting of alkylthiuram disulfide compounds, thiaziazoles, dibenzyl polysulfides, sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds containing at least 20 mass% sulfur element in the molecule, olefin sulfides, and alkyl dithiols, is compounded into a lubricant base material so as to give a sulfur element content higher than 0.08 mass% and not higher than 2.0 mass% in the whole lubricant, thus giving a lubricant additive composition for automatic speed regulator wherein the above sulfur-containing compound is dissolved.
