    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of cracking on both end parts of a diaphragm in the width direction so as to improve durability by arranging a protecting member for covering an upstream end of the diaphragm, in a separating structure of an exhaust pipe whose cross section is divided into two pieces by the diaphragm. SOLUTION: An cross section of an exhaust pipe 12 is divided into two pieces by a diaphragm 11, exhaust gas flows from, for example, #1 and #4 cylinders of an engine into one passage to be divided, and exhaust gas flows from #2 and #3 cylinders of the engine into the other passage. An upstream end of the diaphragm 11 is covered with a protecting member 13. In a connecting part of an exhaust manifold 14 of the exhaust pipe 12, a spherical joint 15 formed by interposing a seal bearing 18 is arranged between a flare flange 16 formed on an upstream end of the exhaust pipe 12 and a flange 17 formed on a downstream end side of the exhaust manifold 14. The protecting member 13 is arranged so as to cover an upstream side end of a part which extends in the exhaust pipe diametrical direction of the diaphragm 11 from the upstream side, and a clearance for releasing a thermal expansion difference between the protecting member 13 and the diaphragm 11 is arranged between the protecting member 13 and the diaphragm 11.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce noise favorably while suppressing consumption power of a speaker to a low level, in a noise reduction device formed in such a construction that sound wave of antiphase generated by a speaker is superposed on noise generated in a fluid passage. CONSTITUTION:A resonance chamber 4 is connected to the exhaust passage 1 of an internal combustion engine through a resonance pipe 3. The resonator 8 of Helmholtz type is formed by the resonance pipe 3 and the resonance chamber 4. Frequency (fn) and phase (PHIn) in premary frequency component of exhaust noise due to explosive combustion of an engine main unit are calculated on the basis of the output signals of a crank angle sensor 20 and a top dead point detecting sensor 21. The position of a resonance frequency variable piston 14 is controlled so as to equalize the resonance frequency of the resonator 8 to the primary frequency (fn) of noise. Sound wave having the same frequency as the primary frequency component of noise and antiphase is generated from a speaker 6, and the sound wave is made resonant and amplifed in the resonator 8 and the amplified sound wave is superposed on exhaust noise.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce a noise satisfactorily as suppressing power consumption in the generation of a ripple in a noise reducer in which a ripple with negative phase is superimposed on the noise generated in a fluid path. CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm 8 to supply the ripple to exhaust gas in the exhaust path 1 of an internal combustion engine is fixed on one terminal of a lead spring 10. The leaf spring 10 is supported between a pair of supporting rollers 14 mounted on a movable member 12 for leaf spring supporting. An excitator 16 is assembled in the movable member 12. The position of the movable member 12 is controlled so as to conform the proper frequencies of the diaphragm 8 and the flat spring 10 to the primary frequency of an exhaust noise due to the explosion and burning of an engine main body. The excitator 16 excites the diaphragm 8 so as to be set at the frequency equivalent to the primary frequency component of the noise and also at the negative phase. Amplitude can be amplified by the resonance of an excited diaphragm 8.
