    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing structure between members, which controls a phenomenon (flow) in which a sealing part of sheets composed of expanded graphite is dropped down from fatigue or collapsed and pushed out and a gasket useful in the sealing structure. SOLUTION: The gasket 32 equipped with sheets 36 and 37 composed of expanded graphite is laid between two members (the cylinder block 12 and the cylinder head 13 of an engine) to be mutually connected by tightening to seal a fluid (combustion gas). In the seal structure, the sheets 36 and 37 have seal parts 42 with 1.85-2.00g/cm 3 density in a state in which the sheets are assembled between the cylinder block 12 and the cylinder block 13.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sealing performance of a gasket, by arranging a seal member consisting of elastic material around a gas hole to bury the seal member in looseness in a tightened condition between parts to make the sealing member cause elastic deformation by a follow up to a fluctuating combustion pressure so as to generate a uniform surface pressure. SOLUTION: This gasket has a ring-shaped sealing member 1B provided with gas holes 3, 9, capable of elastic deformation and outer side elastic metal plates 2, 2A arranged in an outer side region of the ring-shaped sealing member 1B and connected to it. The ring-shaped sealing member 1B causes elastic deformation according to looseness of parts opposed, when the part of an engine is tightened, to ensure uniformity of a seal surface pressure by uniformly distributed tightening load around the gas holes 3, 9. The ring-shaped seal member 1B is formed in egg shape, where the cross section in an inner circumferential side has a thickness larger than in the outer peripheral side.
