    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark ignition type direct-injection engine in which homogeneity of the air-fuel mixture is improved when fuel is injected in an intake stroke, and homogeneous combustion of outstanding characteristics can be performed.
      SOLUTION: The spark ignition type direct-injection engine includes a spark plug 32 installed in the top center of a combustion chamber 10, an intake port 16 formed in the upper part of the combustion chamber, an injector 36, and a fuel injection control means for controlling the injector. The injector has a plurality of nozzle holes, and at least one nozzle hole has the axis directed to the upper space of the valve head 20a of the intake valve so as not to interfere with the intake valve in the maximum lift of the intake valve. The fuel injection control means injects fuel from the injector in the middle of an intake stroke in which the intake valve attains the maximum lift.

    • PURPOSE:To make an insertion hole for a spark plug installable in position between two exhaust ports in an inclinatory manner, by forming these two exhaust ports a cylinder head so as to be bulged to both sides in the vicinity of an opening part at the combustion chamber side.
