SOLUTION: This fuel injection device is provided with a unit injector 1 including a plunger 14 which is driven by synchronizing with the engine 2 and pressurizes fuel supplied to a fuel passage 36, a nozzle 27 for injecting pressurized fuel to a combustion chamber 5 of the engine 2 and a solenoid valve 50 which is installed in a fuel introducing part 36a on the upstream along a flowing direction of fuel instead of the plunger 14 of the fuel passage 36 and controls pressure of fuel within the fuel passage 36 by opening and closing the fuel passage 36 based on an operating state of the engine 2. The fuel introducing part of the fuel passage 36 is connected to a gas supply mechanism 80 for supplying pressurized gas to the fuel passage 36 for the period when the nozzle 27 is closed by the nozzle needle and the solenoid valve 50 is closed.
