    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a cast strip having suitable crown by reducing change of the crown on the cast strip caused by thermal expansion of a cooling drum.
      SOLUTION: In a method for casting the cast strip by using the cooling drum 4, an outer layer water passage is arranged in an inner layer part along the peripheral surface of the cooling drum 4 and an inner layer water passage is arranged in the inside of the outer layer water passage. A water temperature controller 24b controls a shell thickness constant by controlling a water temperature adjusting device 21b according to the water temperature with water thermo- meters 22c, 22d and a water temperature controller 24a controls a water temperature adjusting device 21a according to the water temperature with the water thermo-meters 22a, 22b and/or the crown on the cast strip with a thickness meter 23 in the width direction of the cast strip, and in this way, the cast strip having the suitable crown can be produced.

    • PURPOSE:To keep roll surface normal and to greatly reduce a surface defect of metal band by providing a suction head with suction holes opened at its tip part and the suction holes with the peripheral part accompanied by the roll peripheral and not accompanied by the roll peripheral. CONSTITUTION:A suction head 3 of a roll polishing device 1 is provided with suction holes 14 opened at its tip part, and the suction holes are provided with the peripheral part accompanied by the roll peripheral as well as not accompanied by the roll peripheral. When the suction head 3 is abutted on the roll peripheral, air suction passage is formed with the peripheral not accompanied by the roll peripheral face, the air near the contact part between the suction head 3 and roll peripheral is sucked in a large volume through the suction passage, foreign matter like grinding powder, etc., is efficiently sucked. Also, through the part formed with the peripheral of the suction holes 3 accompanied by the peripheral of rolling roll R, the foreign matter adhered to a grinding belt 16 is sucked. By this method, foreign matter like grinding powder, etc., is sucked/removed at polishing position.
